scrappy binding

This is what I'm working on this week....
I'm reallying liking scrappy binding, it's a great solution when you can't decide on what fabric to use for your binding...use them all!

And I usually do a blind stitch (by hand) for the binding but since I have been using these gloves doing it on the machine is no problem at all. The gloves help me keep the binding right under the walking foot! Hopefully I will be done with the binding by the end of the week. I have a bunch of other things I am working on as well.

slowly coming together

This actually should have been a fairly quick quilt to put together and it probably would have been if I liked the fabrics more.  I am gradually getting it done. I just don't really like masculine fabrics. I looove girly fabrics much better.  So my next step it so put the navy blue lines going the opposite way. It's going to have a plaid type look to it. Maybe I can get it done next week??

Sew N Tell

Another friday and I finally finished this applique quilt!
I thought it would be so easy but i did a blanket stitch around all the lettering and it is very time consuming! Also..i didn't even notice that I'm missing another flower at the top until I took this picture! Guess I better go do that now!
I used white thread because I didn't want the threading to show or stand out.
Hope you like!   This will be a quilt I am donating to our locate shelter. I'm sure it will brighten a little girls day!

And then I just wanted to post this paw print quilt that I finished the binding on!
At first I didn't like it but it's growing on me. No way am I going to show you a close up of the shadow quilting that I did around the paw prints, it is a mess! lol

but I do like how the straight line quilting looks on the back...
And I just used the same paw print fabric for the binding as well. I just love that fabric. It was another bargain of mine. It is Michael Miller fabric from Fabric.com for only $2.95 yd! Can't beat that!

Thanks for looking. Be sure to check out all the other finished projects on Sew N Tell Friday!

Puppy Paws

I don't know what I was thinking with this one.
I am not good at echo quilting! I tried to echo quilt around the paws.. I guess you can't really tell cuz the sun is shining so bright on it.
Then I also used brown thread and that does not look good either. honestly this quilt looks so much better in this picture. When I look at it in person it is not cool at all. I don't even want to put the binding on it :(   It is made as a charity quilt but now I don't even want to give it away to charity!   Maybe it will look all right after its binded.

Another great weekend

I can't believe how quickly this came together...
I'm really on a schedule when it comes to buying fabric...Only twice a month on my pay day. So when I run out of fabric I cannot  just run out and buy it....so I searched through my stash and found these left over plaids.
And luckilly I had alot of navy blue on hand and used that as the back ground. The squares are 5 inches.... I think it turned out pretty good. It's so simple and I didn't spend hours trying to figure out a layout.

Flying Geese Quilt

It's that time again...Sew N' Tell Friday!!

Here is an update on my "Cloudy Day" Quilt.
I am finished with all the flying geese. I'm going to attache a second border, I just can't decide if I should use the half square triangles or just a plain border. hmmmm, decisions, decisions.
And then I made this shirt from a simplicity pattern.

And you may have seen this skirt in a previous post but I just wanted to squeeze this in my
Sew 'N Tell Friday!!
Thanks for looking.

Simplicity Skirt

Okay, so I took pictures in it but for some reason I'm afraid to show my face?
Anywho, I wanted to show off the the pockets. That is my favorite part.
I wish I could have lined up the design in the fabric better but oh well. Not everything can be perfect all the time...
This is Simplicity Pattern 2698. It is a project runway pattern. I just wish I had a smaller waist. I like the look of tucking the shirt in so you can see the cute thick waist band. So on this one I knew no one would see the waist band so I just did an elastic waist which you will see in the previous post.
Thanks for looking! And join in on the fun at Make It, Wear It and Craftastic Monday!

make it wear it

A Cute Skirt...

I love this skirt! I bought the simplicity pattern the other day and could not wait to try it out...
The pattern was 99 cents. and the skirt has pockets too! I bought the fabric from fabric.com for $2.95 yd and I used about 1.5yds.  So a skirt for about $4.50  Not too bad when this store in the mall is selling similar skirts to this for $29.
The only problem I had was the band at the top. it calls for a thick band...which would make it super cute....i just don't know how to insert a zipper, I'm sure I can figure it out but I just wanted to get it done fast so I just attached elastic to the top. no one will see the top anyway..I won't wear the shirt tucked in. Maybe later on this week I will have my daughter take my picture in it. It is cuter on.

Another end to a beautiful weekend. I got so much sewing done! My daughter slept over at a friends house so I basically had a sew-a-thon.
This is what my sewing room looked like all weekend. Scraps of fabric flying everywhere! I probably even had some in my hair and wouldn't have noticed, haha.

Then reality sets in and I have to work tomorrow so it's time to clean up for the work week.
AAHHH, nice and clean. Do you notice that flying geese quilt? That is one thing I completed this weekend. I think I will save it for Sew N' Tell Friday. hehehe.  Hope everyone has a great week!

not so girly

I'm not very good at this, I'm trying to make a quilt for a boy but it just looks blah. I am going to sew gray strips though it to make it look plaid. Hopefully that will spruce things up.

cute little gift.

My mother n law is a quilter so I made this for her for her birthday.
I'm just loving the colors together, and the little yo yo is so cute.
It looks pretty complicated but it is actually the easiest pin cushion to make....
that is why I made so many EXACTLY like this, only different fabrics of course.
Hey, when you find something you like...stick to it!
Thanks for looking :)

weekends over...

Just trying to wrap things up for the work week....
My sewing rooms gets so ..."scrappy" on the weekends so I spent most of the day cleaning up.
Folding all my scraps of fabric...
And look at this...It doesn't seem like much fabric at all. Yet I have enough to keep me busy. I guess that is all that matters.  Sometimes when I walk into a quilt shop I think "what would it be like if I had all this fabric?"  Then I just tell myself it would be like torture because I would never have time to make anything. So I guess the amount of fabric I have matches perfectly with the amount of time I have to create.

Sewing Scrap Projects! A Quilted Bag.

Don't you just love all this fabric goodness?  In todays episode we will dive into scraps of fabric again! Do you have a fabric stash? I...
